Nollywood Takes Center Stage At The Toronto International Film Festival

The surprise wedding party- A lavishing party turns a nightmare at the site of uninvited guests in this movie produced by Mo Abudu, whicih is to be watched in at TIFF(Toronto International Film Festival).

It is of great interest to know that Lagos will take stage at the TIFF city to city program, where  film maker and workers living in that locality are showcased. Previous cites include; London, Mumbia and Seoul, this year Nigerian movies will be screened.
For TIFF International Rising Star Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama, global recognition of the world's second largest film industry has been a long time coming.
"It's about time for Nollywood to start getting the right attention," the actress told CNN.
"I know our movies get exported, but it almost seemed like it's because we have [Nigerian] immigrants in different parts of the world. It was still our audience demanding for it. But now a huge film festival like TIFF, this isn't just Africans in Canada. Now we've gotten attention from a major film festival. "
Nollywood movies are well known locally but its companies still faces challenges. One of this great challenges is Piracy. Which is rampant due to weak copyright movie regulation I will say, if a hundred of movies are been sold, 90 percent are pirated copies costing the industry a fortune. If efforts can be made by the Government to eradicate this predicaments, the industry will earn millions.
Despite all this challenges the industry has taken a huge step been viewed in the TIFF.  has been celebrating the best of international and Canadian cinema for over 40 years, they introduced the city to city programme  eight years ago. The 41st Toronto International Film Festival runs September 8 to 18, 2016.
