FEC approves $470m water project for FCT



The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved a $470 million water project for the Federal Capital Territory.

FCT Minister Muhammed Bello, while addressing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, said the project would be financed by the Chinese Exim Bank.

The minister said the project would extend water to loops 1,2,5 and 6 of the territory.

Loop 1 comprises Bunkoro, Gwarimpa 182, Nbora, Karimo, Dape, Fare and Wupa.

The benefitting areas for loop 2 are Katampe, Mabushi, Utako, Wuye, Jabi, Kado and Jahi.

Loop 5 comprises Durumi, Gudu, Dutse, Gaduwa, Duboyi and Kaura; while loop 6 has Galadimawa, Dakwo, Lokogoma, Wumba, Saraji,Kabusa, Okanje and Pyakassa.

Bello said the Council also approved N186 million for the supply of 1,000 tons of alum for the Abuja Water Board.
