Menswear lapel pins have seen a surge in popularity lately, no matter how you wear one, a lapel pin is another excellent option for adding colour and personality to your suit. It’s also a sharp style accessories men can wear anytime with their suit mostly and sometimes, shirts and even polo.
A lapel pin is a small pin worn on clothing, often worn on the lapel of a jacket. Lapel pins can be ornamental or can indicate the wearer’s affiliation with an organization, sport team or a driving cause. Lapels are the folded flaps of cloth on the front of a jacket or coat and are mostly found on formal clothing such as the suit jacket.

Types Of Lapel Pins


Boutonniere/ Floral pins : it is the most formal option available, usually made from living flowers. It is easily obtainable and can be attached on the cloth with pins.


Long Stem Pins: this pins are fastened with a stick pin attachment, it is contemporary and has several variation, it can be made from materials such as gold, silver, copper etc


Mini pins/Professional pins: this are mostly used to by cooperate organizations, they carry the logo of such organization, a perfect example of this can be seen on bankers.

How To Wear A Lapel Pin
>It is important to know that the lapel pin should always be positioned on your left lapel, above your suit pocket.

>The stem should be at a slight angle which must be parallel to the edge of the lapel.
If you are wearing a tie, the correct way to use a lapel pin would be to pin it to the middle of the tie

>As a general rule, attach your lapel pin through the buttonhole on your lapel, if your suit has no such hole, pierce the pin straight through the material.

>The best way to wear lapel pins is to wear them in a way that suits and exude confidence.

Selecting The Right Lapel Pin For Your Outfit
=>For a black tie or formal event, the boutonniere is mostly advisable, keep it simple.

=>For a semi formal outing, go for bright and contrasting pins on your jacket.

=>For a conservative look, use analogous colours that sits adjacent to each other on the wheel.

=>On a working week or dinner date, try using a metal pin but be sure to match the pin colour to other metals on your outfit such as the your watch, ring, cufflink even belt.

=>When using a bold colour pin, keep the shirt neutral, especially if the tie is patterned too.
