#FashionFriday With GGF: TRENDING TURBAN For Ladies

The origins of turbans seem uncertain, early Persians in modern Iran and Phrygians in modern Turkey wore a conical cap encircled by bands of cloth, which historians have suggested was developed to become the modern turban, other researches suggest the turban was first widely worn in Egypt, some religious men wore it too and some still wear it, using the colour to distinguish its purpose. A turban is a type of headwear that is made by cloth winding.
In Nigeria, this particular headpiece has been around for as much as I can remember, it was mostly associated with the northerners as well as the Muslims but gone are those days because you don’t only find it in the north or in the mosques again, you see ladies rock this turbans in parties, work, casual outings, and as well as churches, its also not limited to the northerners again, ladies in the south, west, and east have taken up this head piece as a trend and I can conclude that its now more of a female hair dress than the male.
Most often, it comes in various forms and types of fabrics, ranging from velvet, cotton, floral net, silk and other materials you can possibly think of. It is embellished with beads, pearls, glittery stones and the plain one is usually rocked with brooch (this itself is a discussion on its own). Turbans can be rocked to cool off any hair bad day or can also be used to complement the hair

How to tie a turban?

Whatever your reason for tying a turban, its important to know how to master the wrapping technique so the turban can securely and comfortably stay on your head, here are some steps to follow

1.Fold the fabric in half and place It against the back of your head, holding the ends in front of your ears, this way u fold it in form of a scarf, the fabric could be as long as you want but it shouldn’t be less than six inches.

2.Tie a knot with the fabric in the middle of your forehead, it should bean ordinary knot it could as well be more than one, to hold the knot tightly, keep it in mind that the knot should not look too bulky, the knot should also
not be too tight to avoid a headache.

3.Twist the end of the scarf around your head until you run out of fabric. Its easier to start from the base where you tied the knot and continue twisting until you have wrapped both ends of the fabric around your head. Wrap them one layer at a time, from the initial knot until you have covered the back of your head, you can also simply wrap around one layer between the back of your ears repeatedly.

4.Pull the fabrics back across your head, tuck it underneath the scarf at the back and make additional adjustment, of necessary, this method is applicable when you want to tuck in your hair, if you prefer to leave some of your hair pecking out the top, then you can just leave a space when wrapping the fabric around your head.

For those of you that would want a quicker approach, you can always buy the cost effective already made turban. Its important to note:

-Traditionally, a turban should cover a large portion of your ears, if could as well cover the whole ear.
-When using a brooch with your turban, avoid a very heavy one, this could drag the position and placement of the turban, especially when using a ready made turban.
-Its also important to choose the wrap tha matches the shape of your face before wrapping your turban.

Whether you are having a good hair day or not, you can always rock your turban, remember to stay fashionable.

Happy new month to you all.
